Privacy Policy

App Department ("we", "us", "our") operates Measuring Tape & AR Ruler App (the "App") for iPhone, distributed through the Apple App Store. This policy explains what the App does with data, which permissions it asks for and why, and what rights you have.

The short version. The camera picture is used live on your iPhone to find surfaces and is never recorded or uploaded. There are no accounts and no ads. We collect usage events and subscription status, linked to a random app ID, to run and improve the App.

1. Camera, motion sensor and photos

Camera. The App uses the camera with Apple's ARKit to detect floors, walls and objects so it can place measurement points. Camera frames are processed on your device and discarded. They are not recorded, stored or sent anywhere.

Motion sensor. The Level tool reads your iPhone's motion sensor to calculate tilt. These readings stay on the device.

Photos. When you choose to save a measurement as an image, the App asks for permission to add it to your photo library. It saves only the image you created and does not read your library.

You can change these permissions at any time in iOS Settings. Without camera access the AR tools cannot work; the Level does not need it.

2. Information collected automatically

  • Usage analytics. We use Mixpanel to record events such as opening a screen, finishing onboarding or viewing the subscription page. Events are linked to the App's random user ID and to the vendor identifier iOS gives the App (IDFV). They contain no images and no measurements. Mixpanel derives an approximate location (country and city) from the connection.
  • Device information. Device model, iOS version, App version and language, used to fix problems.
  • Subscription identifier. RevenueCat creates a random app user ID to keep track of your Premium status. It is not linked to your name, email or Apple Account.
  • Install attribution. Through RevenueCat the App reads Apple's AdServices attribution token, which tells us in aggregate which Apple Ads campaign an install came from. It does not identify you.

The App does not use the Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA), does not show the App Tracking Transparency prompt, does not show ads, and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

3. Personal data

The App has no sign-in and does not ask for personal information. We receive personal data only if you email us for support, and use it only to answer you.

4. Purchases

Premium is an auto-renewable subscription sold through the App Store. Apple processes all payments; we never see your payment details. Through RevenueCat we receive confirmation from Apple of whether a subscription is active and its purchase history.

5. Service providers

We do not sell data. We share the limited data above with the providers that make the App work:

  • Mixpanel for product analytics
  • RevenueCat for subscription management and Apple Ads attribution
  • Apple for distribution and payments, under Apple's own privacy policy

These providers process data on our behalf. We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or transfer it as part of a sale of the business.

6. International transfers

Our providers may process data outside your country. Where that happens we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

7. Retention

Analytics and subscription data are kept only as long as needed for the purposes above or to meet legal obligations. Support emails are kept until your issue is resolved. Camera frames are never retained.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, including the EU, the UK and California, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your data and to object to or restrict its processing. To use these rights, email [email protected].

9. Deleting your data

Email [email protected] with the subject Data Deletion Request, Measuring Tape, and tell us your iPhone model and roughly when you first used the App. We will delete your analytics record and your subscription record (except where we must keep it for legal or tax reasons) within 30 days and confirm by email.

10. Children

The App is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes

We may update this policy as the App or the law changes. The date above shows the latest version.
